Thrivent Fundraiser

Thank you ! The July 4 bake sale hosted by the Thrivent Action Team raised over $700 for Interfaith Good Samaritan and Laramie Soup Kitchen. Thank you to all the Action Team members and other volunteers who baked items, set up and staffed the booth, and hauled tables from and back to Zion. Thanks also to Thrivent Financial for the $250 seed money that covered costs for purchased items.

Higher Things 2019

June 26-29, 2019Concordia University St. Paul Zion’s youth and their chaperones will travel to Minnesota to participate in one of the Higher Things conferences at Concordia system campuses. This year’s theme is Concordia, which means “with one heart.” The Church is unified around the confession of Christ. “The Word of the Lord endures forever.” 1 Peter 1:25

Interfaith Good Samaritan drive

Items needed Drop off at Interfaith Good Samaritan 710 E. Garfield Canned protein (chicken, beef, tuna, Spam) Powdered milk or shelf stable boxed milk “Easy” dinners: canned ravioli, Hamburger Helper, microwaveable meals, etc. Canned soups, beans, fruits Non-food items: size 4, 5, 6 diapers; razors, deodorants, toothbrushes, toilet paper, baby wipes Toiletries collected from travels Peanut or other nut butter, jellies or jams A detailed list is available in the church office.

Special Voters’ Meeting

May 5, 2019 following the Divine Service The Church Council and Board of Deacons are bringing a proposal to the congregation to use Zion’s building fund to do an extensive remodel of The Room. The renovation and addition would address needs for building accessibility, a larger fellowship/Bible study space with an upgraded kitchen, a larger nursery, and handicap-accessible bathrooms. Members are encouraged to attend this important meeting about the future of our congregation.

Men’s Bible Study postponed

POSTPONED until further notice Wednesdays 7:00 a.m. Prairie Rose Cafe 410 S. 2nd St. Men of the congregation and their guests are invited. Join other Christian men for a cup of coffee or breakfast and conversation about God’s Word and current events. Attend when your schedule permits and leave for work or appointments as needed. Study materials are from LCMS publications.

Ladies’ Luncheon

Monday, January 21, 2019 12 pm “The Room” Ladies of the congregation and their friends are invited to attend. Arrive when you are able and leave for work or appointments as needed. Bring a main dish, salad, or other dish to share. If you don’t have time to prepare something, still come! Please contact the church office if you need a ride. It’s a wonderful time for food, fellowship, and fun!
