Coast to Coast Virtual Concert

From Coast to Coast: Praising Father, Son, and Holy GhostFriday, March 12; 6:30 p.m.Viewing party at Zion Lutheran Church, or watch online Concordia University Chicago’s Wind Symphony has partnered with the Symphonic Band of Sheboygan Lutheran High School in Wisconsin to present “From Coast to Coast: Praising Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.” The instrumental concert will be live-streamed to congregations throughout the United States. Zion will hold a viewing party in our new fellowship space, details to be announced. Members and friends of Zion are invited to attend this special, one time only, virtual event. Prefer to view from home? Stewardship Emphasis CampaignJanuary & February 2021 In May 2020, Zion’s voters accepted a bid for building an addition designed by architect Doug Selby to expand and modernize fellowship space and improve accessibility. The design also expands the narthex and kitchen areas. Voters approved borrowing from the Lutheran Church Extension Fund to cover costs that exceeded what had already been raised through our building and other special funds. Voters also approved initiating a stewardship effort to pay off LCEF loans quickly and to address other enhancements to our facility. The Care and Share Campaign asks members to contribute prayers, time, talents, and treasures beyond their regular giving to support Zion in her mission to “faithfully baptize and teach until the Lord’s return.” All households should have…

Zion Addition Update

Construction on our new addition began June 22. The project is on track or even ahead of schedule for a completion date in March 2021. Pastor and Faithe are in temporary offices at 2110 E. Garfield. The sanctuary and nave continue to be used for worship. The project expands and updates our kitchen and fellowship/meeting space (nicknamed “The Room”). Bathrooms are being added to the main level near the cry room. The section of the building housing Pastor’s office has been raised to the same level as The Room, and the facility has other features to improve accessibility. The addition was designed by Doug Selby of Cheyenne. Spiegelberg Construction is building the addition.

COVID update

Zion has returned to our regular worship and adult Bible study schedule on Sundays with an additional spoken Divine Service at 11:15 am (following the adult study) for those who prefer a smaller gathering. Surfaces are disinfected between services, and distribution of the Sacrament has been adjusted to ensure social distancing. Please refrain from attending if you are feeling sick or if you suspect you have been exposed to someone with COVID-19. Masks are encouraged. Interfaith Good Samaritan drive

Items needed Drop off at Interfaith Good Samaritan 710 E. Garfield Canned protein (chicken, beef, tuna, Spam) Powdered milk or shelf stable boxed milk “Easy” dinners: canned ravioli, Hamburger Helper, microwaveable meals, etc. Canned soups, beans, fruits Non-food items: size 4, 5, 6 diapers; razors, deodorants, toothbrushes, toilet paper, baby wipes Toiletries collected from travels Peanut or other nut butter, jellies or jams A detailed list is available in the church office.

Zion’s voters’ assembly approved accepting a bid from Spiegelberg Construction to construct an addition to our facility. The project will expand and update our fellowship and meeting space (nicknamed “The Room”), add bathrooms, and make our facility more accessible. The addition was designed by Doug Selby of Cheyenne.
